Brigadiers Announce 2008 Design Team

Syracuse, NY (October 10, 2007) - The Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps is pleased to announce its 2008 design team. The Brigs have assembled a top-notch ensemble of designers who are already hard at work creating a fresh, new program for 2008.

The Brigs are thrilled to continue the corps' long-time association with Brass Arranger Wayne Downey and Battery Arranger David Glyde, both of whom are long-time Brigs arrangers, and who are, of course, also well-known for their work with the twelve-time and reigning DCI World Champion Concord Blue Devils.

Downey returns to the corps for his 9th season as the Brass Arranger. Known for his years of achievement as the Music Director of the Blue Devils and distinguished as one of the finest brass teachers/clinicians and arrangers in the world, Wayne will again provide the Brigs his expertise as brass arranger and music consultant.

Returning for his 8th year as the arranger for the Brigs' battery is David Glyde, who will return to his role as sole battery arranger in 2008. In addition to his contributions to the Brigs, David is known for his many achievements as the percussion arranger for the Blue Devils and is also a clinician, endorser, and published composer for the Yamaha Corporation of America.

Joining Glyde and Downey in 2008 will be their Blue Devils counterpart, Jim Wunderlich, who will arrange the Brigs' front ensemble. In addition to his work with the Blue Devils, Jim has also been the front ensemble arranger & instructor for the 2007 WGI PSW gold medalist Mission Viejo High School for the past 16 years, and the five-time WGI Medalist Loara High School (Anaheim, CA) for the past 11 years. He has also been the front ensemble director at the 2007 WGI PIW gold medalist Riverside Community College for the past 4 years.

Jim marched in 1989 with the Suncoast Sound Drum & Bugle Corps. He has provided instruction and arrangements for the Velvet Knights, the Seattle Cascades and Esperanza. Finally, he is also the current front ensemble arranger for the Soka Renaissance Vanguard.

On the visual side, the Brigs are pleased to welcome back Rick Morey, who will again reprise his role as Program Coordinator and Visual Designer. As the Brigadiers' visual designer through all of its championship years, Rick has been instrumental in bringing the corps to the highest levels of performance. In addition to his design work, Rick is a past President of the New York Federation of Contest Judges and has also been a clinician in the United States, Canada and Great Britain. Rick was previously the Program Coordinator for Magic of Orlando in 2002 and 2003, Visual Designer for the Colts in 2004, and both Program Coordinator and Visual Designer for the Colts in 2005.

Returning for his 10th season as Visual Consultant to the corps is Michael Cesario. Michael is the recognized leader in design for performing and pageantry arts and has been honored with membership in the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame. Michael's contributions to the drum corps activity are unparalleled and the Brigs are honored to have him provide his design expertise again this season.

And finally, in a color guard coup for the ages, Beth Calhoun, Ryan Bronner and Chris Caracillo will direct the design and instruction of the Brigs color guard as Guard Co-Caption Heads. All three have played vital roles in the development and success of the Brigs' color guard program over the past decade. The trio will join forces in 2008 to create a masterful guard program that will benefit tremendously from their collective talents and wealth of experience in the color guard and drum corps activities.

The Brigs will begin its 2008 adventure with an Open House and first camp November 17-18, where we will premier our new multi-key brass line! Additional information concerning times and location will be posted soon on our website at www.brigadiers.com.

With roots dating to 1938, The Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps was reorganized in 1991 after a nineteen-year absence from competition. The Brigadiers are 5-time Drum Corps Associates World Champions, winning titles in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002, and are the only drum and bugle corps to ever win four consecutive DCA titles.
