FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Brigadiers Debut "Holiday Brass" Ensemble
Syracuse, NY (December 1, 2006) -
The Syracuse Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps rang in the holiday season over the Thanksgiving weekend with the debut of its "Holiday Brass" ensemble. "Holiday Brass" is an offshoot of the corps proper, organized in an effort to provide holiday music and entertainment at various events throughout the local Syracuse community.
The premier event kicked off Saturday, November 27, at the P&C Fresh Market Grocery in Fayetteville, NY, with a reprise of the program on Sunday. The ensemble was wonderfully received, with many customers of the store stopping by to listen in addition to a large turnout of holiday-goers attending specifically to hear Holiday Brass! The ensemble was treated to numerous well-wishes, greetings, cheers, smiles, and dances, and one woman even asked if Santa was going to be stopping by.
Holiday Brass will continue its performance schedule at two large-scale events this weekend: tree lightings in the towns of Minoa, NY (Sunday, 4:00 p.m) and Central Square, NY (Sunday, 5:30 p.m.). The ensemble will also perform throughout the holiday season each weekend at P&C in Fayetteville, as well as performances at the Music & Arts Center in Syracuse (Downtown). A complete schedule will be posted on the Corps' web site at www.brigadiers.com.
After the initial success of the ensemble, the Corps hopes to continue to grow the program and provide similar entertainment at community events throughout the year. For more information or to inquire about engaging the ensemble, please contact Corps Director Rick Martin at rickmartin@brigadiers.com or Public Relations Director April Min at aprilmin@brigadiers.com.
From the entire membership, staff and support staff of the Brigadiers, we wish you and yours all a very joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year!
The Brigs will be hosting their next camp the weekend of December 9, 2006, at Central Square Middle School, in Central Square, New York. Further details can be found on the corps' website. The corps invites anyone interested in experiencing the Red and Black first-hand to attend!
With roots dating to 1938, the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps was reorganized in 1991 after a nineteen-year absence from competition. The Brigadiers are 5-time Drum Corps Associates World Champions, winning titles in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002, and are the only drum and bugle corps to ever win four consecutive DCA titles.
