FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Brigadiers – January Camp Report
East Syracuse, NY (January 14, 2008) -
Eager to get back to work after the holiday break, The Brigadiers enjoyed a successful and
productive camp this past weekend in East Syracuse. The corps spent its first weekend at East
Syracuse-Minoa High School, enjoying the truly stellar facilities made available for the corps’
use by the school district. Both the horns and the percussion worked the opener, “Sevens,” with
significant progress apparent during the full ensemble rehearsal.
“The number and quality of players we have in both the pit and battery is definitely exciting,”
said Percussion Caption Head Rod Wills. “Their talent and hard work really showed through in
allowing us to accomplish as much as we did this weekend.” To see some of the drum line action

Brass Caption Head Pete Blake added, “the level of dedication of the brass line allowed us to
spend our time working on stylistic interpretations this weekend, instead of teaching notes. And
we were able to march and play portions of the opener, which is great for this time of year. The
entire staff was really pleased with the line’s success.”
In addition to the brass and percussion rehearsals, a good turnout for the open guard rehearsal
rounded out the corps’ successful first camp of 2008.
The Brigs will host their next camp on February 16-17, 2008, at East Syracuse-Minoa High School
in East Syracuse, New York. Further details can be found on the corps’ website. The corps is still
actively pursuing additional members and invites anyone interested in experiencing the Red and
Black first-hand to attend!
