FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Brigadiers Featured in Syracuse St. Patrick's Day Parade
Syracuse, NY (March 12, 2007) -
No one celebrates St. Patrick's Day quite like New Yorkers, and the Syracuse Brigadiers All-Age Drum & Bugle Corps relishes the opportunity to once again take part in the festivities in its home town. As has become annual tradition, the Brigadiers will march in a featured role in the 25th Annual Syracuse St. Patrick's Day Parade, Saturday, March 17, 2007. The Parade kicks off at 12:00 p.m., with the Brigadiers expected to step-off at approximately 2:35 p.m. The Brigadiers will conclude the parade with a featured appearance at the reviewing stand, where the Corps will perform selections from its upcoming 2007 field production, "Images in Time." The Corps is expected to premier two of its 2007 productions at the parade, "Spanish Fantasy" and "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," with additional selections possible. More details regarding the parade and other events related to the St. Patrick's Day celebration can be found at http://www.9wsyr.com/content/special/stpats/default.aspx.
The Brigadiers is an all-age drum and bugle corps hailing from Syracuse. The Corps participates in field marching and music competitions throughout the summer months, concluding with the Drum Corps Associates World Championships August 31-September 2 in Rochester, New York. The corps still has openings and invites interested musicians and colorguard to contact Corps Director Rick Martin at richardmartin@brigadiers.com or Recruiting Director Jason Snow at jasonsnow@brigadiers.com for more information. You can also learn more about the corps by visiting its website at www.brigadiers.com. In conjunction with the parade, the Corps will hold its regularly-scheduled winter camp at Central Square Middle School starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, and continuing from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18. The corps will next rehearse March 31-April 1, also at Central Square Middle School.
With roots dating to 1938, the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps was reorganized in 1991 after a nineteen-year absence from competition. The Brigadiers are 5-time Drum Corps Associates World Champions, winning titles in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002, and are the only drum and bugle corps to ever win four consecutive DCA titles.
